According to Ouest France, William Saliba has turned down Rennes' loan offer over a season-long loan move this summer.
Just a year ago, the centre-back was meant to leave Arsenal on loan but eventually stayed at the club until January and played for the U23s.
Ouest France reports that Rennes had an agreement in place with Arsenal over a season-long loan deal for the youngster long before the transfer deadline.
However, the Ligue 1 side decided to explore other options as well and didn't return to finalise a move for quite a while. In particular, they pushed for a Daniele Rugani move and eventually settled on signing him from Juventus for a season.
It meant that Arsenal had little time to find another destination for the kid. The Gunners couldn't do the required paperwork in time and send Saliba on loan to Saint Etienne before the transfer window shut.
