Tomiyasu withdraws from Japan squad due to 'club circumstances'

The Japan football association have confirmed that Takehiro Tomiyasu has withdrawn from their squad for the upcoming international games.

They said in a statement: “We would like to inform you that defender TOMIYASU Takehiro (Arsenal) will be withdrawing from the SAMURAI BLUE ahead of the KIRIN CHALLENGE CUP 2022 Ecuador National Team match on September 27th due to club circumstances.”

This could hint that Arsenal probably didn’t want Tomiyasu to risk injury in the international break and wanted him back at the club a bit early.

The Gunners already received an injury scare when Thomas Partey picked up a knock for Ghana, but he should recover in time for the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.

Tomiyasu has made 7 appearances for Arsenal this season, but only started one game in the Europa League.
