'Our focus is to be better every day': Mikel Arteta continues to play down title talk

Speaking to Sky Sports at the weekend, Mikel Arteta said: "Our focus is to be better every day and we still have things to improve.

"It's been a long time since we've been in this position. It's a transformation from the fans, the energy and passion they've transmitted to these players.

"The unity from the top to every single member of the team and the staff, they [the supporters] are the soul of this football club."

Arsenal are five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table heading into the World Cup break.

The Gunners beat Wolves 2–0 away at the weekend while Pep Guardiola's side suffering a shocking 2–1 defeat against Brentford at home.

Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to five points with Manchester City suffering a shocking home defeat against Brentford at the weekend.

Ivan Toney scored a brace for the visitors with the winning goal coming in eight added minute of the game. Josh Dasilva, a familiar name to Arsenal supporters, provided the assist.

The 24-year-old midfielder was on Arsenal's books from 2006 to 2018 before moving to Brentford. Meanwhile, some Arsenal supporters jokingly believe it was all part of Arsene Wenger's plan.

One fan wrote on Twitter: "Wenger brought Dasilva to Hale End, trained him so that one day he can play for Brentford and give Toney an assist for the winner against Man City. helping Arsenal remain on the top of the table without kicking a ball. He's done it again!"
