Sidelined for 137 days: Tomiyasu's injury history at former club revealed

Takehiro Tomiyasu has struggled to stay fit this season. After a substitute appearance in Japan's World Cup win over Germany, the Arsenal defender didn't feature against Costa Rica.

Tomiyasu's fitness has been a major concern for Gunners faithful. He started just four Premier League games, albeit partly due to Ben White's form.

His injury record at Bologna should be a source of concern. In three years at the Italian club, the Japanese was sidelined for a total of 137 days.

He suffered five different injuries in that period and missed over 18 games. In his final season, Tomiyasu suffered three different injuries and was missing for 54 days.

However, his recent calf injury, where he was unavailable for nine games for Arsenal in 60 days is his longest yet.

Regardless, the 24-year-old has been a valuable asset to Mikel Arteta, especially due to his versatility.

Tomiyasu and Japan risk early exit from Qatar should they suffer another defeat in their final group against Spain on Thursday.
