"Last summer, I went on tour with the first team to America. And I didn't get any playing time out there, so I was a bit frustrated,” Folarin Balogun told Arsenal’s official website when asked to explain the reason behind his loan move to Reims.
"It's one of my dreams to just play in the first team. I had to be realistic at the same time. I spoke to Mikel [Arteta] and he gave me a few options. And together, we decided it'd be best for me to come to France."
The decision clearly played out well for the 21-year-old forward. He has already scored 16 goals in 26 games in Ligue 1. As things stand, he is the fourth-best goalscorer in the division.
It remains to be seen if there's a place for him in the Arsenal squad for the next season. If not, there will be no shortage of interest in the youngster after such a productive season.
