Nottingham Forest 1–0 Arsenal: LIVE updates, stats, reactions, ratings

🏁 Arsenal suffer a 1-0 defeat at Forest and lose the Premier League title to Man City. A pitiful end to the season.

Forest opened the scoring through Awoniyi after he was slid through by Gibbs-White after an Odegaard mistake.

The Gunners created several half-chances but weren't clinical enough, with Trossard and Saka missing the biggest opportunities to equalise.

Forest could have doubled their lead through Felipe and Lodi as well so the defeat looks deserved for the Gunners.

The loss means that Arsenal are four points behind Man City with just a game left to play. The Gunners can no longer challenge the Citizens for the title.

90+2' A good chance for the Gunners but Odegaard and Vieira can't get a proper shot on goal and the ball is cleared away.

πŸ—£ Eduardo Hagn: "Not winning the title after the season we’ve had is a bit disappointing but the way we’ve crumbled in the last few weeks has been monumental and embarrassing. We must be very critical. This is a reality check. There is much to be done."

Seven minutes added.

89' Gibbs-White with a good shot from the edge of the box and Ramsdale with an even better save.

84' It's a loose pass after a loose pass for the Gunners who just can't create anything.

πŸ—£Bradleycjw: "Depressing game. We had a fantastic league season but to end it in this way is just sad. I mean the boys literally have nothing to play for. Title is basically gone, 2nd is secured. I’m sure they just want this season to end already."

72' Lodi drags his effort wide as Forest catch the Gunners on the counter.

πŸ—£ Gooner Talk: "The fact Smith Rowe isn’t being considered here, or in any of our recent games where we needed a goal, doesn’t look good for him. He’s played 38 minutes in the last 10 games and in many of those we desperately needed goals. I worry he may be sold in summer."

πŸ”„69' Vieira on for Trossard.

67' Gibbs-White hits the side-netting after a mistake by the Gunners.

πŸ”„63' Tierney and Nketiah on, Kiwior and Xhaka off

61' Saka through on goal but the keeper saves and the ball goes out for a corner. Jorginho's shot from the corner is deflected wide.

55' Gabriel Jesus pulled back inside the box but gets booked for complaining.

47' Forest close to doubling their lead as Felipe's effort from inside the box is deflected off for a corner.

46' Back underway at City Ground!

πŸ‘‰ Arsenal are 1-0 down at the break.

The hosts scored in the 19th minute, punishing the Gunners for Odegaard's poor back-pass with a counter-attack that led to Awoniyi getting a goal.

The Gunners created several chances to score, with the biggest probably coming through Trossard, whose effort went wide after a smart Saka corner.

Arsenal are dominating possession but finishing has been off and there's no real urgency in how the team plays. The Gunners look like a team just going through the motions.

Gabriel Jesus has been awful so far, hopefully he picks himself up in the second half. The whole team needs to improve though.

If the game ends in an Arsenal defeat, Man City will secure the title today.

πŸ“Š Half-time ratings

Decent: Saka, Ramsdale, White, Xhaka 6.5; Jorginho, Kiwior 6

Poor: Partey, Trossard 5; Gabriel 4; Odegaard, Jesus 2

44' Arsenal are trying to create something through Saka but he's crowded by the opposition.

πŸ—£ Preacher Clete: "I guarantee Arteta's plan wasn't 'pass to Saka and Inshallah' but that is what it looks like."

πŸ—£ Humble Jiraya: "How did Thomas Partey go from being a hybrid of Kante and Busquets to Abubakri Yakubu in a span of 2 months is something I will never understand"

35' Ramsdale with a really nice clearance on a Forest break, the flag goes up but some good work by Rams here.

29' Gabriel Jesus with a really poor effort from outside the box.

27' Another nice Saka corner but Trossard can't hit the target.

πŸ—£ shxc: "I swear we conceded the same exact goal so many times this season. Absolute braindead pass from Odegaard and it's not the first time he's done that."

πŸ—£ Dani Spar: "MØ, I love you, but that's what... the 4th goal like that we've conceded in the past ~7 games from him making a Basic mistake in midfield?"

⚽19' Forest score. Odegaard makes a really poor back pass and sets up Forest' counter, with Awoniyi punishing the Gunners.

17' Biggest chance of the game so far with Jesus' header from Saka's corner going slightly over the post.

13' Xhaka with a very nice tackle to stop a dangerous counter.

11' Odegaard with silky feet to move past a defender on the right and nearly sets up Saka, then Trossard tries to pick out Jesus with a through ball but Navas is first on the ball.

πŸ—£Sash: "Martin Odegaard typifies the beautiful game."

πŸ—£ biffogooner: "This is so strange. What can Kiwior give you at left back that Tierney can't? Does he really trust him that little."

7' A bit of a messy start from the Gunners with Forest clearly on top of the game so far.

2' I don't know who plays where at the moment but it looks like Kiwior is at left-back with Partey on the right side of the defence. Xhaka in midfield.

1' We're underway!

πŸ’¬ Arteta on team selection: "We had some players who could not train much this week. So we have to adapt a bit."

πŸ’” The strangest thing here is the absence of Tierney in the starting lineup. Apparently Xhaka will feature at left-back today. Looks like a sad end to KT's career at Arsenal...

Subs: Turner, Holding, Walters, Tierney, Bandeira, Vieira, Smith Rowe, Nketiah, Cozier-Duberry.

πŸ—žοΈ Note that Reiss Nelson is not in the squad. He's ill.

πŸ‘‹ Hi everyone! This is Aleksei and I'll be covering today's clash at Nottingham Forest. Not much is left to play for Arsenal but we don't want to concede the title too early so hoping for a confident win!
