Bayern Munich win Bundesliga title - why it could mean bad news for Arsenal in Champions League next season

Bayern Munich clinched the 2022/23 Bundesliga title in dramatic fashion after winning their final game and seeing rivals Borussia Dortmund drop points in theirs.

In doing so, they’ve managed to have repercussions on Arsenal’s position in the Champions League seeding pots.

If Dortmund would’ve won the title, the seeding pots would’ve looked something like this below.

But with Bayern pulling off an upset, The Gunners have now been relegated to pot 3 in the seeding places - with Dortmund taking their place in pot 2 instead due to better UEFA coefficient points.

This could mean bad news for Mikel Arteta’s side. Each group consists of one team from each of these pots.

That means in the worst-case scenario, Arsenal could be in the ‘group of death’ next season. For example, they can be placed in the same group as PSG and Real Madrid if unlucky.

Arteta & co will hope that isn’t the case and his side gets put in a decent group that allows them to make it to the knockout phases.
