How did Mikel Merino fare on his debut?
Mikel Merino came on in the 64th minute of the PSG game to make his debut for Arsenal, replacing Thomas Partey.
The midfielder's first action was a brilliant sliding tackle to win the ball for the Gunners. Later in the game, he made another excellent block in the middle of the pitch. Overall, he won four duels out of six attempted.
The Spaniard made 16 touches, played six accurate passes out of seven attempted and lost the ball three times. He also made two clearances and drew a foul.
Merino has showcased his defensive skills on his debut. It's clear that he needs some time to adapt to the pace of Arsenal's playing style but he's left a positive impression. Rating: 7/10.
