Billy Gilmour reveals how he helped turn Man United tie around - until Rashford's free-kick
It was gutting to lose the game only after an outstanding free-kick, Billy Gilmour told the Chelsea official website after the Carabao Cup tie with Manchester United.
The Blues managed to find their game in the second half of the game, and Gilmour played quite an important part in it until being subbed off on 70 minutes. Despite the defeat, the 18-year-old has a positive feeling after the match.
"I learned a lot," Gilmour explained. "It was a massive step for me, and for Marc [Guehi] as well. It was a totally different match to Grimsby. Coming into this game we had to be on it, and we thought we played okay.
"I was hoping for a win which we didn’t get, which is gutting. Second half we were a totally different team. We changed formation in midfield with a two and a one, I was the one and had a bit more freedom to try and get on the ball.
"We looked more dominant on the front foot, we played very well and then just a great free-kick separated the two teams."
His teammate Reece James certainly agrees on the quality of Rashford's kick:
Billy Gilmour who only made his professional debut this season has only 3 senior appearances to his profile so far, only one of them in the Premier League. As Chelsea got eliminated from the Carabao Cup, the 18-year-old will probably have to wait until the FA Cup starts in its full strength.
