The 20-year-old Blues' academy graduate has been making waves on his loan spell in England's second-tier this season and recent stats published by WhoScored reveal that Gallagher has been among the best U21 players in the division.

The likes of Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori, Tammy Abraham and Reece James have all made the step up from Chelsea's loan army to the first-team this season and there could be more to follow in their footsteps in the following campaign.

Conor Gallagher has arguably been the most impressive performer in the Blues' loan army this term and is among those to be touted with an outside chance of making the cut into Frank Lampard's set-up.

The 20-year-old, who won Chelsea's 2018-19 Academy Player of the Year award, was initially loaned out to newly-promoted EFL Championship outfit Charlton Athletic last summer.

Gallagher bagged 6 goals and 2 assists in 26 league outings for the Addicks before switching boats to join Swansea City on loan in January until the end of the season and has since racked up 5 assists in 13 league fixtures for the Welsh club.

Now, WhoScored have summed up Gallagher's stats at Charlton and Swansea over the course of the 2019-20 campaign so far in order to compare him with some of the other U21 stars in the Championship and the results are truly amazing.

Gallagher's tally of 42 key passes throughout the season is the most accumulated by any player aged 21 and under while his tally of 7 assists is the joint-most in the Championship for U21 players alongside Brentford's Bryan Mbuemo.

The Chelsea loanee also ranks second among all U21 players in terms of shots (69), overall goal contribution (13), tackles (70) and dribbles (51).

The 20-year-old has shown plenty of promise on his loan spells this season and with the fountain of youth beginning to flow at Stamford Bridge, it will be hard for Frank Lampard to ignore his progress if the academy starlet continues to impress.
