Gilmour reveals how he dealt with injury blow with youngster set for first start this season against Krasnodar

"It's been a long time out. It was disappointing, but now I am back and ready to go," Billy Gilmour told reporters.

"When you come back, when you train hard and being back with the lads it helps a lot. I can't wait.

"It was really good to get that breakthrough and the injury was a shame. Now I am just trying to get into the team.

"When I was injured it was tough, as it was during lockdown as well. But when I was off the crutches it was great to get back in the gym and training.

"I have grown up a bit, I have moved into my own place and looking after myself. I am cooking, which is going pretty well."

Gilmour is set to make his first start of the season on Tuesday evening against Krasnodar, Frank Lampard confirmed in his press conference.

The Scotsman had a very promising run in the side cut short abruptly after suffering a knee injury in July.

The youngster has been slowly getting back into the thick of things, making his first-team return last week against Sevilla.
