Back in 2015, Damien Duff signed for Shamrock Rovers at the age of 35 and agreed to donate his entire salary for 18 months to 2 charities - Temple Street hospital and Heart Children Ireland.
The winger made the choice after his first-born son Woody required heart surgery shortly after birth.
Duff, believed to be set to earn €150,000 over the duration, said: "I don't want a penny. I thought it'd be something nice to do because I just want to play football.
"I've done a bit in the past with charities, including Heart Children Ireland, because of my son, and it was straightforward enough. I don't want to make a big story out of it. The charities are close to my heart. My son's operation took place in London, but the check-ups were here."
Unfortunately, Duff had to retire a few months after signing his Shamrock Rovers contract but continued at the club as a coach. Duff played for Chelsea for 3 seasons from 2003 to 2006 - helping the Blues win 2 Premier League titles in the process.
