Raphael Varane 'No.1' centre-back target for Chelsea this summer (reliability: 5 stars)

Raphael Varane is the 'No.1' name on Chelsea's centre-back shortlist for the summer transfer window, according to Christian Falk of Sport Bild.

While Thomas Tuchel is personally interested in signing the Real Madrid defender, Manchester United are also keeping close tabs on the 28-year-old.

Varane is out of contract in 2022. As per reports, the France international has no intention of extending his current deal with the current La Liga champions.

Raphael is now valued at €70m by Transfermarkt but Madrid are likely to lower their asking price for the defender to avoid losing him on a free transfer at the end of the 2021/22 season.
