However, he has now come in for praise from his manager, who told chelseafc.com, "I like that he overcame obstacles in his career and he has the spirit to make it at Chelsea.
"This is one of the toughest challenges that you can face, but he is ready for that."
It seems the duo are in a much better place than when the German left Tammy out of his matchday squad numerous times last season.
Abraham had 12 goals and 6 assists in all competitions for the Blues last season and certainly has the talent to stick around and make his mark on the club.
