Revealed: Why Lokomotiv Moscow handed retired no. 10 shirt to Chelsea loanee Tino Anjorin

Lokomotiv Moscow broke tradition when they handed Chelsea loanee Tino Anjorin the no. 10 shirt upon his arrival at the Russian Premier League side.

The no. 10 had been retired for the last 8 years by Lokomotiv in honour of club legend Dmitri Loskov.

Loskov scored 128 goals in 422 games for Lokomotiv between 1997 and 2013 - it makes the attacking midfielder the club's record scorer.

According to The Athletic, Lokomotiv handed Anjorin the jersey because they rate him highly.

Ralf Rangnick Lokomotiv's head of player development likened Anjorin to Manchester City's Kevin de Bruyne.

It was Rangnick who convinced Anjorin to join Lokomotiv Moscow. However, Loskov himself was there to hand Anjorin the no. 10 shirt.

Hopefully, Anjorin can repay the huge faith being bestowed on his 19-year-old shoulders.

It is believed that Lokomotiv plan to activate the £17m buy-option in the deal, as early as January.
