Conor Gallagher receives first senior England call-up

 with a call-up to the England senior national squad. 

 so far this season, having started every game under Patrick Vieira and scoring four goals.

The call up for Gallagher does come at the back of some injuries to other players such as Mason Mount, who have not travelled.

However, this will be a major confidence booster for the young midfielder who has arguably been Chelsea's best loanee so far.

The Three Lions face San Marino next and whether it's not certain if Gallagher will earn his first cap, he has to be feeling pretty good about himself right now!

'It's like Lampard': England's U21s manager heaps praise on Gallagher

 so far this season and England U21s manager Lee Carsley spoke about the loanee in depth.

“One of Conor’s biggest strengths, but I don’t want people to get carried away with it, is his ability to arrive in the box is like Frank Lampard. Not just because of the timing but it is about the amount of runs that he makes,” Carsley said.

“It is the same with Tim Cahill [who Carsley played with at Everton], he just had a knack of arriving into the box at the right time but it is due to the amount of runs he makes rather than being at the right place at the right time.

“He scores a lot of goals in small sided games which is again a good sign because he has some really good finishing technique, he is calm in front of goal and can score an array of goals. 

“I like the scruffy ones that he scores that bounce into the ground and into the corners.”

The Villa manager will have his hands full trying to keep his side in the Premier League this season.

 said: “It’s not hard to follow (his progress) because he is standing out every single match day. It’s a pretty easy one to follow.

“Listen, Conor’s heart is so, so big. He loves football and you can wake him up at four o’clock at night. He will start running, sprinting and collecting balls, winning duels.

“This is what he does and you can see he feels good, he has trust from the club and manager.”

Giving an update over his future, Tuchel added: “Right now, it is the beginning of November. He is a full member of the 

 squad and it’s good where he is. There is no need to change this. We are fully aware of it and are happy he feels so good and is a huge part of this club.”

The 20-year-old has scored 4 goals and registered 2 assists in 10 appearances this season and is determined on establishing himself as a first-team star for Chelsea next season.
