Saul set to stay at Chelsea beyond January as return to Atletico is ruled out (reliability: 4 stars)

There were rumours circulating that Chelsea will look to end Saul Niguez's loan spell early as the midfielder hasn't impressed so far.

However, the latest report from Spanish media outlet AS claims that a return to Atletico Madrid this season is impossible.

This is so because there is no budget left to accommodate Saul's salary after the Antoine Griezmann signing in the summer.

Fifa regulations also prevent a player from being able to play for three different teams in a single season. Therefore, a loan to any other European club in January is also ruled out.

The report adds that Saul is determined to see out this season at Chelsea but he faces a tough task to get more playing time.
