Edouard Mendy has become a vocal presence in the world of football, calling out issues related to racism and the disrespect African football receives while winning Champions Leagues and setting records.
This has seen the Senegalese come in for a lot of praise, with a former teammate also weighing in with some insight into his character.
"He's a very calm person on the outside. With his family, he is calm. But in football, he's someone else," Jordan Siebatcheu, Mendy's former Reims and Rennes team-mate, told GOAL.
"He has a leadership characteristic. With his big voice, he knows how to make himself heard!"
Mendy has certainly made himself heard this season, questioning the likes of FIFA as well as the Ballon d'Or committee.
If the 29-year-old can continue playing at the level he is, it will allow him the platform to change the footballing world even more.
