PSG rejected Chelsea's nearly record-breaking offer for Marquinhos (reliability: 4 stars)

The Blues submitted an €85m offer for the centre-back but the Parisian side rejected it straight away.

Had PSG accepted the bid, Marquinhos would have become the second most expensive defender in the world. His fee would have been just €3m shy of what 

 particularly wanted to sign the Brazilian as he hoped to line up a defensive trio of Marquinhos, Thiago Silva and Rudiger.

It remains to be seen whether the Blues would come back with another offer next summer. 

The 27-year-old has been a permanent fixture in PSG's squad, making 338 appearances and scoring 34 goals since joining the French giants in 2013.

victory, the original rumour about Marquinhos is on L'Equipe's website. It's up to you whether to believe them or not but take it up to them, we're not making up anything.

Just because a rumour is reported, does not mean that a rumour should be advertised as facts without being cross referenced.

Yeah absolutely. that's why we put a reliability rating (3, 4, 5 stars) in headlines if we post a rumour. the number of stars is determined by how credible the source is (L'Equipe is a respected French magazine) and how plausible we think the transfer is (in this case, it's common knowledge that Chelsea tried to sign a centre-back last summer and very reliable Nizaar Kinsella reported Chelsea's interest in Marquinhos). this one could have even been five stars, not four. additionally, the post starts with "According to L'Equipe," literally the first words there, so it tells you that it's not a fact but something reported by journalists.

Totally agree with you bro....Lampert took a chance with young players like Mount, Reece James, Hudson Odoi....And you used these players to win the Champions League. You started this season by trying out   Trevoh Chaloba and see what success he has turned into...Please TT look into our development squad and groom some players from there...Maybe that's what the FA is telling you by turning down your match postponement request...
