Chelsea 5-1 Chesterfield: LIVE updates, reactions, stats, ratings

Post-match ratings are coming up shortly, and here's a brief summary of the game.

Chelsea got what they wanted by easily beating Chesterfield and securing a place in the next FA Cup round.

Chesterfield got what they wanted by scoring at Stamford Bridge even though the goal had very little significance in terms of the result.

Thomas Tuchel got what he wanted as no Chelsea player seemingly got hurt or injured. Lewis Hall had a cramp with 15 minutes to go but played on just fine.

Finally, the Chelsea fans got what they wanted too as they watched their favourite team win without any drama. Sounds like a perfect evening for all sides involved.

🏁 FT. Chelsea are through to the FA Cup fourth round!

90' Not much happens in the game, both teams got what they wanted. Barkley enrages the fans again, though.

fil17, Reddit: "Can Barkley wait any longer to make a pass??"

@_beckyw2, Twitter: "Wouldn’t wish Barkley ball on my worst enemy"

80' Chesterfield score. Asante with a tap-in. No clean sheet for Bettinelli on his debut.

@CarefreeYouth, Twitter: "I never like to see Chelsea concede and love a clean sheet but I'll accept this one just to let Chesterfield have a moment to remember"

77' Havertz scores, but the goal is ruled out after Werner was found to be offside.

@AlexGoldberg_, Twitter: "Safe to say Ross Barkley waited too long to pass to Timo Werner there?"

75' Hall down with a cramp. Just a reminder, no more subs for the Blues today.

73' Chesterfield make another sub. On comes Lawrence Maguire, the younger brother of Man United's Harry Maguire.

jackedgynotits, Reddit: "Crazy how Harry Maguire’s brother plays for Conference League's Chesterfield yet is probably still better than Harry."

72' Chelsea's current line-up looks... strange.

Blue Machine, We Ain't Got No History: "If you'd told me 5 years ago that Saul (Atletico), Ross Barkley (Everton) and Lewis Baker (CFC youth) would be playing together in a Chelsea FC shirt, I don't know what I would have said"

@AbsoluteChelsea, Twitter: "Timo Werner at left wing-back. Discuss, Blues."

🔄 66' Hudson-Odoi off for Barkley in the last sub for the Blues.

65' Chelsea have had three captains today:

🔄 58' Lewis Baker makes his second-ever Chelsea appearance! Harvey Vale is also on. Christensen and Pulisic are off.

55' GOOOOOOAAAAAAAL! Ziyech converts a penalty after Pulisic is fouled in the box!

📊 Half-time ratings:

Great: Hall 9, Kovacic 9

Good: Christensen 7, Ziyech 8, Hudson-Odoi 8, Saul 7, Lukaku 7, Werner 7

Average: Bettinelli 6, Sarr 6, Pulisic 6

👉 First-half summary:

The first half was pretty much all that we imagined after seeing the starting line-up.

Chelsea settled the dispute pretty early, scoring three goals in 20 minutes.

The Blues' debutant Lewis Hall was the standout player - which is unsurprising in a way because he has a lot to prove even at this level.

The 17-year-old has been involved in three out of four goals Chelsea have scored so far.

The result of the game is not in doubt, so we can see some changes at half-time - maybe some minutes for Harvey Vale and Charley Webster?

HT. Chelsea are cruising their way towards the next FA Cup round.

39' GOOOOOAAAAAL! Christensen heads a rebound home after Hall's shot from distance!

@LondonBluePod, Twitter: "Would have preferred a Lewis Hall goal tbf, but Christensen's second-ever senior goal for Chelsea is a nice prize too."

31' Lukaku has a chance similar to the one he had in the first minutes but missed the target again. Looks like a walk in the park for Chelsea...

Maxchels, We Ain't Got No History: "Lukaku has missed 3 sure goals by now. If it was Werner there would be swords out here right now"

@ExpectedChelsea, Twitter: "Let's not get too ahead of ourselves but I'm really impressed by how Hall looks like he belongs out there. He's playing with CL winners and national legends and is showing zero signs of pressure."

20' GOOOAAAAAAL! Lukaku makes it embarrassing after Hall's assist!

RajBan, We Ain't Got No History: "Hall - Brilliant. That fight after losing out the ball is the difference between decent and great"

@siphillipssport, Twitter: "Lewis Hall telling Tommy he don't need no new/old left wing backs!"

18' GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAL! Golazo from Hudson-Odoi!

sonic90, The Shed End: "Interesting to see how shots like that are so easily executed when there is no pressure"

14' It's been a while...

12' Ziyech with a shot, Loach saves. The game's going pretty much as you would've expected.

@Arrizabalager, Twitter: "The last month or so when he’s played Ziyech has been very very good."

6' GOOOOAAAAAL! Werner had the simplest of tasks.

skoldier76, Reddit: "We really really missed Kova... It's nice having some healthy midfielders again."

3' Looks like Chelsea play a back three, with Hall a left centre-back and Hudson-Odoi a left wing-back. First moment for CFC, but Lukaku's shot goes over the bar.

BigReeceJames, Reddit: "Are we playing Sarr as central CB? If so, Tuchel really doesn't expect any threat from their attack"

1' Kick-off! Come on you Blues!

🗣 Here's Tuchel speaking out on his selection:

"It is always a strong line-up if you play for Chelsea. You have to be strong once you get the chance to play.

Marcus [Betinelli] deserves it and is desperate to make his first game and feel the excitement and get the feeling of being on the pitch. He deserves it and trains very well and fulfils his role very good.

"I am able to [tell you where Lewis Hall plays]. But I will not. Lewis yeah, very young, and good in training and hopefully he can show it today.

"We expect ourselves to win. But we have to put in work and show it out there when the match starts, and we have to show it in every minute.

"They have the match and opportunity of their life, but it is on us to not make it a pleasant experience for them."

👉 In case you missed it, here are the starting line-ups.

Chelsea: Bettinelli; Hudson-Odoi, Christensen, Sarr, Hall; Ziyech, Kovacic, Saul, Pulisic; Lukaku, Werner

Chesterfield: Loach, Kerr, Gunning, Croll, King, Weston, Oyeleke, Whittle, Khan, Kellermann, Tshimanga

👋 Hello and welcome back to Stamford Bridge! Today, Chelsea are starting their FA Cup campaign with a home game against National League leaders Chesterfield.

Last season, the Blues went all the way to the final where they were defeated by Leicester.

The starting line-up today suggests that Chelsea have full intention to go even further this time: Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech all start, as well as Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mateo Kovacic.

At the same time, there are two debutants. Marcus Bettinelli starts in goal, while 17-year-old Lewis Hall is the Blues' left-back for today.
