Chelsea have been devastated in the wingback department by injuries and with other issues also popping up, were expected to be quite active in the transfer window.
However, a reported target in Lucas Digne joined Aston Villa instead and there are rumours of Loftus-Cheek leaving on loan as well.
Thomas Tuchel addressed all of this in his pre-match press conference ahead of the big game against Man City, saying: "The situation has not changed.
"We have long-term injuries with the wing-backs and we suffered a lot in midfield from Covid and injuries. Now that our midfielders are more or less coming back, we suffer a lot with our central defenders.
"It needs to be possible and it needs to make sense with quality and personality. We have a look into the market and we have all options, including the option to say no.
"Ruben and I haven’t talked about it [potential loan]. He has a lot of game time I would say if you look at the last years and you look at this season. He has a lot to fight for here when you talk about Ruben and my personal opinion."
Even if any reinforcements do arrive, they won't be relevant to the City game on Saturday, and that clash is an absolute must-win for Tuchel's side.
