Chelsea's biggest weakness this season shown in lineup

Chelsea have not yet made any signings this summer so far although Raheem Sterling is expected to be announced pretty soon.

Given the departure of an important player like Antonio Rudiger as well as the lack of transfer activity so far, the Chelsea team certainly has some weaknesses in the squad.

As of now, the biggest issue is definitely the centre-back position. Rudiger and Andreas Christensen have left, while no centre-back is close to signing for the club so far.

Current starting XI and depth

While Chelsea do need to add one more attacker, the immediate concern is the back three.

Levi Colwill and Ethan Ampadu are good, young players but they cannot be expected to make a huge impact immediately and certainly, cannot be counted on as regular starters.

Trevoh Chalobah was also pretty inconsistent during the end of the season and Malang Sarr is certainly not a starting-level player.

Chelsea are linked with the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly and Matthijs de Ligt. They need to bring at least two centre-backs in order to tighten the defence.
