Chelsea loanee Bakayoko held at gunpoint by Italian police in a case of mistaken identity (video)

Tiemoue Bakayoko, who is on loan from Chelsea to AC Milan, was caught up in a case of mistaken identity and held at gunpoint by the Italian police.

The player seemed to be stopped and search by 3 officers, one of whom had him pinned against the police car while frisking him thoroughly.

As per journalist Tancredi Palmeri, one of the officers then told the other that it is not the suspect, but an AC Milan player, to which he responded "Who?"

The Milan police headquarters released a statement about the incident which read: "The search, happened on 3 July, was due to gun shooting happened in the area in previous hours, and the two suspected were two men on a guy fitting the description, one of the two was black and with green shirt.

"That’s why the gunpoint.”

A forgotten Chelsea loanee in Italy, Tiemoue Bakayoko is not enjoying his time at AC Milan.

The 27-year-old has been loaned out to AC Milan on a two-year deal which included a conditional obligation to buy the midfielder for around €15-20m.

Bakayoko has disappointed Milan so far, however. He has only completed 90 minutes twice in Serie A this season and made only 13 appearances.

According to journalist Rudy Galletti, Mian have no intention to make his move permanent - which is why Bakayoko has not featured for the team since the 2-1 loss to Spezia last month. The clause which would force Milan to buy the Frenchman is linked to the number of appearances he'll make for the team.

Before leaving for Milan, Bakayoko extended his contract with Chelsea until June 2024. It means that he's likely to be back at the club where he certainly has no future after spending the last four seasons out on loan.

Bakayoko joined Chelsea from Monaco in 2017 for €40millon. He was a part of the Chelsea squad for only one season when he made 43 appearances across all competitions.
