Boehly 'still sees appeal' in Ronaldo signing, Potter's position revealed (reliability: 4 stars)

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly seriously considered the idea of signing Cristiano Ronaldo last summer - so much so that he left Thomas Tuchel dismayed at how often he mentioned the idea, as CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs reports.

Now, it turns out that the idea is not dead yet as Boehly 'still sees the appeal' of signing the Man United forward, especially for Chelsea's brand.

However, it's viewed as a hard sell as Graham Potter sees other forwards ahead of Ronaldo on his wishlist.

In particular, he likes AC Milan winger Rafael Leao, while Lille's Jonathan David and Ivan Toney from Brentford are also on the radar.

As with Tuchel, Boehly will only authorise Ronaldo's signing with Potter's blessing. As it stands, it's unlikely to happen.

This weekend, Ronaldo was not in Man United's squad for the game at Stamford Bridge after he refused to come on as a sub in the Tottenham clash and left the stadium before the final whistle.
