Mason Mount contract talks in stalemate - The Telegraph (reliability: 5 stars)

Contract talks between Chelsea and Mason Mount are in a stalemate, according to The Telegraph.

The 23-year-old's current deal expires in 18 months, and he has been in talks with his boyhood club over a new deal since the summer.

There's still to be any progress, though, and work needs to be done to get closer to an agreement.

As he signed his current contract before his breakthrough under Frank Lampard, Mount is one of the lowest-paid members of the first team. His new deal would ideally reflect his status as a regular starter, with Chelsea keen to tie him to a new long-term deal.

Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini and Villarreal’s Yeremy Pino are two players who are thought to be alternatives if Chelsea fail to extend Mount's deal. Keeping their academy graduate is the Blues' priority, though.
