Bayer head coach Xabi Alonso outlines Hudson-Odoi plan as Chelsea consider January recall

Callum Hudson-Odoi has largely got what he wanted from a loan to Bayer Leverkusen, making a total of nine starts and four substitute appearances for the German club.

Chelsea have a January recall clause in the deal, and they reportedly consider doing that.

Still, Bayer head coach Xabi Alonso has made it clear that he wants to keep the 22-year-old.

"I want to keep him a lot," ex-Liverpool and Real Madrid star told a press conference, as quoted by journalist Manuel Veth.

"I am sure that he will stay until the end of the season. He is an important player for us."

In any case, if Chelsea decide to recall him after all, there's not much Alonso can do to keep him.
