'It's sad to see how quick his decline was': Mendy's mistakes see Senegal lose World Cup opener

Senegal lost their opening World Cup game against the Netherlands 2-0. Both Oranje goals happened after mistakes by Edouard Mendy.

The Dutch broke the deadlock through Cody Gakpo in the 84th minute. Frenkie de Jong crossed the ball into the box and Gakpo beat Mendy to it, heading the ball home.

The Netherlands added second in the ninth minute of added time. Mendy parried Memphis Depay's strike straight into Davy Klaassen's path and the Ajax man slotted the ball into the empty net.

Chelsea fans agree it was a poor showing by the goalie.
