Mount could become second-biggest earner at Chelsea after signing new deal (reliability: 5 stars)

The Telegraph confirms earlier reports that Mason Mount will resume contract talks with Chelsea after the World Cup.

The 23-year-old's current deal expires in 18 months, and there are clubs that already are monitoring the situation, including Liverpool.

At the same time, there's an understanding that Mount's new deal could be worth as much as £300,000 a week.

If that is what it takes to extend Mount's deal, he would become Chelsea's second biggest earner in the current squad, only behind Raheem Sterling who earns £325,000 a week. Romelu Lukaku has the same salary, too, but is not expected to return to Chelsea next season.

As it stands, there's no indication that Mount is prepared to leave Chelsea after a 17-year association with the club.
