'They lost the game': Eden Hazard reacts to gesture Kai Havertz and Germany teammates made before Japan defeat

The German national team made the headlines ahead of the World Cup game against Japan by covering their mouths in the pre-match photo.

This way, Kai Havertz and his teammates reacted to FIFA's decision to ban the OneLove captain's armbands that some teams were going to wear in support of the LGBT community.

When asked about it, ex-Chelsea star Eden Hazard reacted in a rather surprising way.

"Yes [they did the gesture], but then they lost the game," he said, as per RMC Sport. "It would be better [for them] if they hadn't done it but won.

"We're here to play football. I'm not here to make political statements, there are other people who know better. I'm focused on football."

Germany lost their opening game to Japan 2-1 and are now in danger of being eliminated at the group stage from the second consecutive World Cup.
