Chelsea need to remove 2 senior overseas players to add Felix, Mudryk and Badiashile to Champions League squad

Chelsea have signed Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk and Benoit Badiashile this month. However, they still need to register them for the Champions League.

If the Blues want them to play against Dortmund on February 15, they would have to remove two senior players from their current UCL squad, the Evening Standard reports.

This is because of the UEFA requirements. The Champions League squad must contain a maximum of 25 senior players and Chelsea currently have 24 registered.

They can add one of Felix, Mudryk and Badiashile. But to register another player, they must remove someone from the existing squad. To register all three new signings, they would have to de-register two players.

Englishmen Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, Marcus Bettinelli and Carney Chukwuemeka must remain on the list to meet the home-grown quota.

Long-term absence Armando Broja can't be removed as he previously was in the U21 players list.

Additionally, Chelsea can't register more than three new signings, so landing another player this month would cause further headaches.

Fortunately, the Premier League rules are less strict and the Blues can add all their new signings to their squad.
