'I’m not gonna cry for a player who didn’t want to stay': Benfica president on Enzo Fernandez departure

Benfica president Rui Costa has shared his thoughts on the departure of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica.

“Enzo Fernández did not want to stay at Benfica. He didn’t give us any chance," said Costa.

"I did my best, I’m sad but I’m not gonna cry for a player who didn’t want to stay. When Chelsea arrived, it was really impossible to change his mind."

Costa did his best to keep Enzo at Benfica but Chelsea's aggressive pursuit eventually meant his efforts were in vain.

Cry idiot cry like a baby you already make your money, enzo's heart is already at chelsea there's just no stopping it, i said it 2 days ago that its good thing all of our signings choose Chelsea & either rejected moves to other clubs or wanted the move. They believe in the Chelsea project.
