"I think it’s been tough for him because he’s had some niggling injuries and noise and speculation off the pitch," Graham Potter said about Mason Mount.
"But he’s a top professional and he’s a fantastic lad so how he’s acted with me, how he’s acted with the team, how he’s acted around us, has been absolutely top.
"I think that’s credit to him because sometimes in your career things are difficult, they aren’t quite optimal as you would like them to be and you have to act well and conduct yourself in a good way. That’s exactly what he’s done."
Mount faces an uncertain future as he is yet to reach an agreement with Chelsea over a new deal. The Blues are reportedly ready to sell him in the summer as his current deal expires in 2024.
The 24-year-old has not played for over a month due to minor injury concerns but should be in the squad for the Aston Villa game on Saturday.
