Chelsea suffered an outrageous 2-0 defeat at home.
Chilwell: 7/10. Chelsea's most dangerous attacking player today and it says a lot about Mudryk, Havertz and Felix. Scored a goal which was bizarrely disallowed, was very energetic going forward.
Kovacic: 6.5. Created several chances in the first half but tailed off after the break. The first-half performance is something to build upon.
Kante: 6.5. Should have done better when he had dragged his shot wide from very close range in the 65th minute. Took initiative often in the final third and looked a spark.
Kepa: 6.5. Maybe could have done better with McGinn's goal but reacted well to deny Villa a third goal when James sold him short in the dying minutes of the game. A decent game on balance.
Enzo: 6. Lost the ball a bit too often for a player of his calibre but his passing was excellent. His diagonal for Chilwell in particular were something else.
Madueke: 6. A livewire but an inefficient one.
James: 5. It makes sense to play Reece at centre-back when he's not fully fit which was probably the case today. Helpful when pushing forward but often failed to get close enough to McGinn, Ramsey and Watkins when defending.
Loftus-Cheek: 3. RLC is good when you need him to take the ball and carry it forward but what's the point if he doesn't know what to do with it later. Defensively a liability.
Felix: 3. A lot of effort, a lot of touches and dribbles but to no avail.
Koulibaly: 3. Poor communication. As the only natural centre-back and the most experienced one in the lineup, he should marshal his defence but instead, he failed to tell Cucurella to leave that header that led to the Watkins goal to him. Made a couple of nice clean tackles to save Chelsea from further embarrassment though.
Havertz: 2. Mostly invisible again but did pretty well in pressing.
Cucurella: 1. What an assist for Watkins. No, literally, what's the point of playing Cucu when you have Chalobah and Badaishile on the bench? The guy just makes the team worse. Although, to his credit, his involvement going forward was mostly positive.
Mudryk: 1. Wasted a glorious chance early on, failing to put the ball past Martinez. Missed an even more glorious chance later in the first half, basically passing the ball into the keeper's hands from an extremely dangerous position.
