Chelsea suffered a 1-0 loss to Wolves in their first game under Frank Lampard’s stint as interim manager.
The Blues failed to really control the game and did not elevate their performances from how they played under Graham Potter.
Just before half-time, a thunderous strike from Matheus Nunes gave Wolves the lead.
However, when it comes to XG (expected goals), Chelsea finished game with a lead – with 0.97 compared to the hosts’ 0.62 XG.
This indicates that, at least statistically, Chelsea deserved to win the game more than Wolves.
On another day, the game could’ve ended 1-1. But considering the Blues’ inefficient outing, a 1-0 loss was unfortunately a fair result.
