Real Madrid 'unhappy' over referee selected for Chelsea game

Real Madrid are said to be unhappy with UEFA after referee Danielle Orsato was appointed to officiate the Champions League second-leg clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Orsato officiated Real Madrid's 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in 2020 in the Champions League round of 16 first leg. Vinicius Jr and Zinedine Zidane - Madrid's ex-manager all came out to complain about the referee.

"Gabriel Jesus committed a foul in the first goal and everyone knows it," Vinicius said after that game.

"We have the VAR but the referee didn't want to go and have a look at the play. I could see it from the sidelines and it was clear.

'Referees always come here and make decisions against us on purpose, it's always the same. We are the team that has won the most league titles and most Champions League, it will always be like this."

Luka Modric also criticized Orsato's officiating during the World Cup after Argentina bundled out Croatia in the semi-final.

Real Madrid holds a decent 2-0 lead from the first-leg with Chelsea in the worst possible form after losing four games on the spin.
