Eden Hazard considers retirement as he leaves Real Madrid - some Chelsea fans want him back

According to The Athletic, Eden Hazard is considering retirement as an option as his exit from Real Madrid is imminent.

The ex-Chelsea star's current contract expires in 2024. However, Real Madrid wanted him to leave for a while, and now an agreement has been reached.

"Real Madrid CF and Eden Hazard have reached an agreement whereby the player will be released from the club as of June 30, 2023," the official statement reads.

"Real Madrid wants to express its affection for Eden Hazard and wishes him and his entire family the best of luck in this new stage."

Hazard will say his goodbye to the fans on Sunday when Real Madrid take on Athletic Bilbao in the last game of the season.

Hazard is yet to decide over his future, but retirement is a distinct possibility.

Even though he's been painfully out of form for years, there are Chelsea fans on Twitter who would still love to have him back after a brilliant seven-year spell between 2012 and 2019.

Don: "Bring him back man. I don't care about his form. He is EDEN HAZARD"

Chelsea Fan Accountability: "We brought back Drogba as a backup option to provide leadership in our 2014-2015 title season. I’d be totally fine with bringing back Eden Hazard to do the same for next season. Proper Chels and a serial winner."

Felix: "Bring him back. LW & AM in Pochettino’s 4-2-3-1. And it’s Eden Hazard, I’ll take him back any day of the week even if it makes no sense."

CFCDaily: "I’d bring him back as cover if we sold Pulisic, Mount & Ziyech."

Futbol Chelsea: "I’m gutted for him that his dream move to Madrid didn’t work out. My heart would want him back at Chelsea but I don’t think the ownership would entertain it. Would be a huge shame if he were to retire."

Nouman: "Bring him back for a proper Stamford Bridge send-off."
