When do Chelsea plan to start contract talks with Cole Palmer? Revealed

Chelsea have already been reported to plan contract talks with Cole Palmer after a breakthrough season from the former Man City academy player.

Now, the Mirror adds that the Blues want to start the talks before the start of the season.

A possible explanation is that Palmer's status could be elevated further if he performs well with England at the Euro this summer.

Palmer currently earns over £80,000 a week which is peanuts compared to Chelsea's biggest earner Raheem Sterling (£325,000 per week).

The 21-year-old won't be offered the same money as Sterling, but Chelsea could bolster a new deal with performance-based incentives which are absent from the current agreement that is due to expire in 2030.

Palmer has already scored 20 goals this season, and the club wants to ensure that he is motivated to reach new heights.
