Who are the top contenders for the Chelsea job? Achievements listed

With the news about Pochettino's sacking the reports about potential contenders started to appear quickly. As for the moment, the possible suitors are Kieran McKenna, Enzo Maresca, Ruben Amorim and Roberto De Zerbi.

Even though the names of the coaches may not be that loud, they actually have some achievements to brag about.

Kieran McKenna: McKenna is currently managing Ipswich Town and has been linked with the Chelsea job due to his record in developing young players.

The last two seasons were huge for McKenna and his team - they managed to get back-to-back promotions. From playing in League One two years ago to now competing with the best in the Premier League. McKenna definitely knows how to raise the stakes.

This season Ipswich beat the likes of Southampton and Leeds to the direct spot.

Enzo Maresca: Maresca led Leicester City to secure promotion back to the Premier League after a successful campaign in the EFL Championship. His team finished in first place in the table, leading Ipswich by one point.

He was named the EFL Championship Manager of the Month in August, October, and December 2023 for his outstanding leadership and results. Additionally, he received the Manager of the Month award in April 2024, marking his fourth award of the season

Ruben Amorim: In March 2020, Amorim was appointed manager of Sporting CP. Under his guidance, the team clinched both the Taça da Liga and the Primeira Liga titles, breaking a 19-year dry spell for the latter. These triumphs earned him the esteemed Primeira Liga Manager of the Year accolade for the 2020–21 season.

Continuing his successful streak, he steered the club to yet another Primeira Liga championship in the 2023–24 campaign.

Roberto De Zerbi: This is the most well-known manager on the list and every Premier League fan knows how sometimes tough De Zerbi's team is to beat.

This season wasn't the best one for Brighton, however in the 2022/2023 campaign Brighton achieved their highest-ever Premier League finish, securing a sixth-place position in the league table.

It also meant the historic Europa League spot never achieved by the club before. Brighton topped their Europa League group which included opponents like Ajax, Marseille and AEK Athens.

According to the latest reports McKenna and Maresca have a bigger chance of securing this job, however, something unexpected can easily happen as we talk about Chelsea here.
