Enzo Maresca expects more transfers in January to compete with Arsenal and Man City

Enzo Maresca argues that Chelsea need more transfers in January if the Blues want to compete for the top places in the Premier League.

"I think we are a very good squad but there are clubs like Manchester City and Arsenal that are ahead of us, no doubt," Maresca said.

"Hopefully (if) we progress and (keep) improving, we can slowly, slowly be close to them. But I think it is quite clear that at this moment Arsenal and Manchester City are ahead of the rest.

"Like I have said, the reason why is one club is nine years with the same manager, the other is five years. The rest of the clubs…is a short time.

"The target after the last summer is to try to do less things but more specific.

"This is the target for January and for next summer. Hopefully it can be like this."

Over the summer, Chelsea spent £219m on transfers, including big-money moves for Pedro Neto and Joao Felix.

but he said he is OK with Jackson upfront look if we want to compete we need a complete striker a striker who can win match for us not Jackson who will score one of five clear chances don't get me wrong Jackson is good a fighter but he is not just up to the task and I don't see him close to that in next two three season

I agree with you.If a good striker can be signed, other players stay injury free and they are kept together for at most two seasons with the same coach, then they will get there.

Jackson can't win match just tap ins if Jackson was able to convert most of his chance last season I swear to God we would be playing in champion league this season you know there are some match you need a striker to step up and win for you but Jackson is not just there in the last three premier league it was halland who won it for city we as a club need That such striker don't get me wrong nico is good but he is not up to that level and will not be in two three season even the boards know that talking about age how old is halland if we want to start competing sincerely the squad is good now just a striker and the coach should pair adarabioyo at the back we are good to go with that many wide players my bro many team will wet their pant to play against us

The coach will never say it publicly that Jackson is not good but the fact that he is still saying we need more transfer means a lot. He is sending message to the owner.

We should all understand one thing, Enzo is smarter than Pochetino. He doesn't have this ego or being a top Coach, so he's being very diplomatic in his utterances. The Club clearly wanted to sign Osimhen this summer, but Napoli were bent on making a cash cow of Chelsea. Once you"be been once beaten, you'd be twice shy! The mistakes of Torres, Lukaku and Sterling, is t lost on them!! Osimhen will come much affordably cheaper in January.

A very good striker's conversion rate shouldn't be less than 50% at the top flight of English football. Nicholas Jackson's conversion rate last season was a lowly 17.5%. We created an average of 10 big chances per game last season. If we had a better striker than Nicholas Jackson, we would have made top four. The Chelsea hierarchy must look for a clinical finisher this coming January if we want to get back to our competitive status. Nicholas cannot take us there.

I agree with you 100%. We need him to stamp his authority and make his physical presence known in the opposition box. The last time we had such a profile was when Diego Costa was with us.

Suppose he comes and he becomes floppy, what are u going to say again. Remember this EPL. Kulibali came from Napoli and he was like a s***t in our defense.

Are u sure he will thrive in the EPL?? I will pin this in case they buy him,I hv no issue with him but I have fears ,we have seen strikers firing else where then when they come here they become a shadow of themselves
