Ronaldo on Estevao Willian: Like Lamine Yamal, he will be a very big star
Brazilian legend Ronaldo has heaped praise on Palmeiras sensation Estevao Willian, predicting a bright future for the 17-year-old prodigy.
Willian continued to make waves in Brazil with a stunning strike to give Palmeiras a crucial 2-1 win over Cruzeiro on the road.
The teenager's sensational free-kick in the 89th minute kept Palmeiras in the Brasileirao title race ahead of the final game on Sunday.
Ronaldo, a two-time World Cup winner, has been impressed by Willian's rapid rise to prominence.
"He's a young player and very talented. He's kind of like Lamine Yamal. He will soon be a very big star in football. He's very promising, and at just 17," Ronaldo said.
Willian has been instrumental in Palmeiras' campaign, contributing 13 goals and nine assists in 30 league appearances.
In October, he broke Neymar's record for goal contributions by a 17-year-old in Brazil's top flight.
The teenager's impressive form has already caught the attention of Premier League giants Chelsea, who have secured an agreement for his services in a deal reportedly worth £56 million ($73 million).
Willian is set to join Chelsea in July 2025, shortly after he turns 18.
