Ter Stegen: 'Favre is one of the best coaches I've ever had'

Marc-Andre ter Stegen admits the upcoming Borussia Dortmund game will be special for him. The goalkeeper returns to his home country as he faces against Lucien Favre, his former coach at Borussia Monchengladbach.

Ter Stegen is very fond of Favre. That's what he says, as quoted by FC Barcelona official media: "I know Favre quite well, he gave me my first chance and is one of the best coaches I've ever had!"

Ter Stegen has already played several times against Dortmund. He warns his current side about the atmosphere of their stadium: "Signal Iduna Park is a very difficult stadium. I know when I played here in the Bundesliga. Hopefully, we will have a good match."

Ter Stegen is a Borussia Monchengladbach graduate. He left them for Barcelona in the summer of 2014 for €12million. During his Gladbach time, Ter Stegen featured in 127 games and kept 45 clean sheets.

Ter Stegen has never played against Borussia Dortmund as a Blaugrana shot-stopper. However, he faced them regularly when he was still at Bundesliga. In total, he has taken part in seven games against BVB, won three times, lost twice and drawn twice. During this run, Ter Stegen has conceded eight goals but kept two clean sheets.
