Puyol names the main reason for Coutinho's struggles at Barca

Barcelona legend Carles Puyol sat down with Marca to discuss Barcelona, Real Madrid, the Champions League and many other subjects.

One of the matters in focus was Coutinho's worrying form this season. The Brazilian's inability to reach the heights he was showing for Liverpool is leaving a lot of room for uncertainty about his future. Coutinho has only managed to score nine goals during the 2018/2019 campaign. He has seemingly lost the competition for the left-wing position to Ousmane Dembele.

Nevertheless, Puyol believes in the 26-year-old's quality and claims that he only lacks confidence at the moment.

"I think it's a matter of confidence because he has the quality," the former Barca captain said. "He's shown it with other teams, even with Barcelona when he first arrived. He just needs confidence."

At the moment, according to highly reputable ESPN, Barcelona are ready to sell him 90 million pounds. Manchester United are the main candidates to land Coutinho which could be a huge blow for his former side, Liverpool.

Commenting on his possible departure, the player said: "I came here to make myself better, but I live the moment. I don't know the future now."
