Gerard Deulofeu, who left Barcelona for Watford in the summer of 2018, has admitted that the expectations and pressure at Camp Nou didn't help.
He told beIN Sports: "When you're young at Barca there are a lot of eyes on you.
"Many people who think you will be the next Iniesta, the next Messi, stars of football. And that is hard because young players have to work calmly, every day, without pressure.
"You should learn and work but some people talk too much and they create a dream for you that is very difficult to reach."
Delofeu represented Barcelona at the youth level between 2009 and 2013. He also played with the senior team during the first phase of the 2017/2018 campaign.
He currently plies his trade at Watford, who secured his signing for €13 million in July 2018. He's bagged four goals and five assists for the Premier League side so far this term.
