The coach believes he needs the trio for the Sunday's game against Alaves.
"I'd have liked it to be different, but it's not going to be possible," Setien said when asked if Barca B's trio of Ansu Fati, Riqui Puig and Ronald Araujo are eligible for the play-off game against Real Valladolid's B team on Sunday.
"We have various players suspended for the Champions League and for Sunday.
"Without them, we'd only have enough to field 11, with barely any substitutes. That's my position, at least."
Currently, Quique Setien has only 15 first-team players available. The coach will need 18 players to be called up for the match against Alaves on July 19 and he will have to include at least three players from the academy.
Barca B play their first promotion play-off match on the same day and Javier Garcia Pimienta will also need his best players.
