"Garcia Pimienta will be our Guardiola. When [Ernesto] Valverde was dismissed, we should have bet on Garcia Pimienta, and now we should do the same should [Ronald] Koeman be removed," Barcelona's presidential hopeful Lluis Fernandez Ala told Goal.
Indeed, after Valverde's exit in early January, Pimienta was touted as a potential candidate to take over at the Barcelona first team.
The 46-year-old coach has been working at the La Masia academy since 2006. He won the UEFA Youth League in 2018. This year, he fell just a win short of Barca B's promotion to Segunda.
If Pimienta really becomes a first-team coach in the future, he would follow in Guardiola's footsteps. As we all know, Pep spent a year as a Barca B boss before his appointment in 2008.
