Josep Minguella denies receiving €10m from Barca for Malcom move, says 'real commission' was 'just over €1m'
  • Earlier this week, Cadena SER came out with a report on Barcelona paying a €10m commission to agent Josep Minguella for Malcom's transfer in 2018.
  • Minguella, however, denies receiving such a huge sum from the Catalans, saying that his 'real commission' was 'just over €1m'.
  • “Barca hired me to make possible an operation that initially cost about €62m, which was the offer that Bordeaux had from Tottenham, and we managed to get him to stop going to Roma, get off the plane and change course to Barcelona,” Minguella told Mundo Deportivo. “The operation was closed for €41m plus the 8 of intermediation that could make this operation possible. With this operation, Barca saved about €15m and had a player, who was later sold for €50m plus bonuses, earning money. Almost everything that Barca paid me was for the commitments they had signed.
  • As Mundo put is, the Blaugrana indeed paid €8.4m to Minguella but that fee was used to 'make payments to the player’s agents, Bordeaux and Roma to break the agreement between those clubs in favour of Barca'.
  • Malcom scored two goals in 24 appearances for the Catalans before leaving the club for Zenit St. Petersburg in the summer of 2019.
