Martin Braithwaite suffers ankle injury, set to miss Getafe clash

Martin Braithwaite suffered a sprained right ankle during Tuesday's training session, Barcelona have confirmed.

Even though the Catalans haven't mentioned the Dane's potential return date, Braithwaite is expected to sit out Barca's home encounter with Getafe on Thursday.

The 29-year-old has scored seven and set up four goals in 39 appearances across all competitions this season so far.

Martin Braithwaite was clearly frustrated about the referee's decision not to award the penalty late in the second half.

The Dane even clashed with some Real Madrid players, especially Luka Modric whom he pushed out of his way twice.

'It felt amazing': Martin Braithwaite reflects on being in Barca's radar

"I was picking up my son from football practice and we are driving home and my agent called and he told me that Barcelona is interested. He said they seemed really, really interested. It felt amazing," Martin Braithwaite said in his interview with CNN.

Braithwaite joined Barca in the winter of 2020 in an €18 million from Leganes.

However, the Dane is yet to leave a real mark at Camp Nou. Martin has played 37 la Liga games since his arrival in Catalonia and scored just 3 goals. He's scored 8 in 49 games since he joined.

Braithwaite may be sold this summer to raise funds for a marquee signing. The former Middlesbrough forward is among the 9 players on Barca's transfer list.
