Julian Nagelsmann plots to poach Koeman's assistant Alfred Schreuder: ESPN

Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann will attempt to lure Barcelona assistant gaffer Alfred Schreuder away from the club next summer, according to ESPN.

Nagelsmann takes over the Allianz Arena in the summer and is looking to create an impregnable technical crew.

Schreuder replaced Nagelsmann at Hoffenheim in 2019 after the later joined RB Leipzig. He was later fired by Hoffenheim before he joined Barcelona last summer.

The German connection between Schreuder and Nagelsmann and the fact that they worked together briefly at Hoffenheim could bode well for Bayern. However, it remains to be seen if Barca and Ronald Koeman will let their vocal assistant manager leave.

Schreuder praises Barca's mental strength after Valencia comeback

"We are very much alive, the team has shown great personality to overcome being one goal down which is always a disappointment and could complicate the game," Alfred Schreuder told reporters after the Valencia win, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

"The team has character and has shown to have the mental strength to get the result. We were better before the goal and we remained better afterwards.

"We suffered a little at the end because they scored a great goal but the victory was fair. Playing against Valencia is always difficult, but the team knew how to play, dominate and win."

The fact that Barcelona are now able to pull off comebacks is a sign of improvement. In the first few months under Ronald Koeman, the Catalans failed to win a single match in which they conceded the first goal.

Schreuder: 'We are still confident we can win the league'

"We are very close to winning league, compared to where we were in January," Barcelona assistant coach Alfred Schreuder said after the Valencia win.

"We are confident that we can the league. Everyone in Barcelona thinks we can do it. In January the gap between us and Atletico Madrid was very big, and we have done very well in the last three months.

"We can't change what happened against Granada. We don't look back, we look forward.

"We have a very important match against Atletico, but there are still more matches. Obviously, it's a very important match, but we have to keep going match by match until the end."

Barcelona currently sit in the third spot in La Liga with 74 points, two points behind league leaders Atletico. However, in order for Barca to be able to claim the first spot, they need Real Madrid to drop points.
