Champions League Goal of the Tournament: Messi 2nd

Leo Messi hasn't won the vote for the 2020/21 Champions League Goal of the Tournament.

The Argentine's screamer against PSG only lost to Mehdi Taremi's exceptional bicycle kick against Chelsea.

Olivier Giroud's bicycle kick against Atletico Madrid completes the top 3.

Leo Messi won the Goal of the Tournament award three times in his career: in 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2018/19.

Messi scores as Argentina draw Chile in World Cup qualifier

Lionel Messi couldn't lead Argentina to a victory over Chile in the 2022 World Cup qualifier on Thursday night.

The Barcelona captain opened the scoring for the penalty spot in the 24th minute of the encounter but Alexis Sanchez cancelled Leo's strike just 12 minutes later to end the game in a 1-1 stalemate.

On the other hand, the 33-year-old was very close to scoring a hat-trick in Santiago del Estero.

Messi's first free-kick attempt before half-time was all but perfect but Claudio Bravo stopped it with an amazing save.

Leo attempted another free-kick in the 80th minute but hit the cross-bar this time around.

Argentina are now second in their WC qualifying group, one point behind Brazil who have a game in hand.

'That day Messi turned to prime Pepe': How Leo once unleashed anger on opponent for failed move

You don't usually expect Lionel Messi to get in fights on the pitch given his humble nature but that wasn't the case in the 2009 UEFA Super Cup final.

Shakhtar Donetsk were very close to shocking then-Pep Guardiola's Barcelona back then as the Catalans only managed to claim a 1-0 victory over the Ukrainians thanks to Pedro's winner in the 115th minute of the encounter.

Prior to Pedro's late striker, Leo was visibly frustrated after missing a clear out chance and took it out on Dario Srna, cheekily shoving him in the back.

The Croat certainly didn't like Messi's behaviour and squared up to the Argentine prompting a furious reaction from Leo who threw his head towards Srna's, skimming his forehead.

That was the 'day Messi turned to primer Pepe", as YouTube user @Nazar Foutahi pointed out.

Both Messi and Srna were shown yellow cards after the incident but it would be fair to say that Leo was lucky enough to escape a sending-off for his headbutt.
