Barcelona are optimistic in regard to the possible arrival of Memphis Depay and hope to announce his signing starting with Monday next week, the very reliable Fernando Polo of Mundo Deportivo reports. He would join us on a free transfer.
The negotiations are in their final stage, it's claimed, and the Catalans expect Depay to accept the offer. The decision to keep Ronald Koeman for another season has been key in convincing Memphis to choose Barca over Juventus, who are offering him a better deal.
Mundo Deportivo say that the 27-year-old told his lawyer to get the deal with Blaugrana done once news came out that Koeman, who is like a mentor to him, will continue at Camp Nou. Besides, Depay himself reportedly really wants to wear Barca's jersey.
Depay will sign a three-year contract, it's added. When Juventus tried to highjack the forward, Barca decided not to improve their wage offer but to propose a longer contract.

Memphis Depay's shirt was briefly put up for sale in Barcelona's official store on Saturday afternoon with Cules offered the chance to buy it for €160.
Minutes later the entire website was taken now with a notice stating the site is under maintenance.
Depay has been on the radar of Barcelona and an official announcement of his signing was expected this week.
The 27-year-old is set to become Barca's fourth signing of the transfer window following the arrivals of Eric Garcia, Sergio Aguero and Emerson Royal.
This could be a big hint that Barcelona are moments away from announcing Depay or another mistake from incompetent IT guys.

"I talk to him [Memphis Depay] about Barcelona, but it is he who has to make the decision. We will see what happens but he is the one who has to make the decision, logically," Frenkie de Jong has said, as quoted by Diario Sport.
Barca and Depay are said to be in advanced talks but they are yet to reach a final agreement. Meanwhile, Juventus are said to have intruded the negotiations, offering him a contract on better terms. Despite this, the Catalans are reported to be calm about Memphis, believing that the forward will choose them.
The 27-year-old would arrive at Barca for free as his contract at Lyon is set to expire on June 30. In the 2020/21 season, the Dutchman recorded 22 goals and 12 games for the French side.
